What do i deserve?

I feel that I deserve a B+ in this class. My videos that I have are a bit of lacking creativity but I feel it’s because I’m still searching for my own voice and creativity. As far as marketing I feel that I have a great understanding of it. Now whenever I approach another business I always ask myself whether or not they have what it takes to please me as a customer. And as I notice this, I realize that this is what others are expecting of me whenever I create content for them.

After partaking in this class I’ve actually debated on making a YouTube channel designed for creating webisodes. I watch and keep track of a few channels and it would be an interesting experiment to see if I can get people to watch and interact with me if I can create content they’d be interested in. Be consistent, authentic, and deliver good quality fueled by a jet pack that is marketing strategy and you can establish a fan base of loyal viewers waiting to soak up your content and tell you where you need to improve in a real time internet environment. “Your differentiated value can lock customers in, invite them to participate, and create unparalleled loyalty.” (Age of Engage, Denise Shiffman, 55-56) I want to create this unparalleled loyalty with my fanbase and show them what kind of videographer I can really be.

Swot Analysis

Strengths: One of my strengths is that I’ve been working for a year now as a legitimate videographer. This provides me with valuable work experience that lets me see and realize the difference between working on a school project and how the real world is really going to treat me. I know people who have already graduated and are already in the field so it provides me with a strong network of people. I’m very dedicated in trying to provide good quality media. I’ve always found myself putting extra effort into the final polish of any video I do. I’m dedicated to the customer heavily. When in work I also find myself in the leadership role. I’m being asked for advice on a daily basis and I know that in order to help my teammates I must keep on top of subjects frequently.

Weaknesses: I always feel that my weakness is a lack of creativity. While I posses the prowess and know how to create videos I never to this day as an artist but more of a problem solver. “It can be hard work finding the core of what makes your product unique. And sometimes you don’t even know it’s there until outsiders point it out to you.” (Age of Engage, Denise Shiffman, 55) While I do understand what makes a core product, I need to build upon it more to really establish something new.

Opportunities: While I feel that I can notice an opportunity when I see it I feel that I have a hard time finding them in order to take advantage of them. I have opportunities through friends already in the field that I can network and I think that will be one of my biggest advantages. I’ll never be satisfied with my standing as there is always room for improvement. “Winners have nowhere to go but down. Arrogance and the trappings that come with winning cause myopia, and management loses sight of what’s really happening with customers, and in the marketplace.” (Age of Engage, Denise Shiffman, 188). I need to always look forward to new opportunities as this will keep me on the right track. As a mentor of mine has said before, “Never feel like you’re the best otherwise you’ll be facing a harsh reality.”

Threats: A threat I face as a videographer is finding myself in the creative process being stumped. I always lessen myself and think every idea I come up with is unsatisfactory. With other videographers and creative minds abound, I need to be able to come up with award winning ideas in the blink of an eye. “A value that is unique clearly differentiates a product from the competition.” (Age of Engage, Denise Shiffman, 56) I need to be able to create this value and apply myself more efficiently towards my goals.

11 Weeks!

It’s been 11 weeks since I’ve focused on bringing quality entertainment and
I’d like to report the amount of viewers that has helped me become successful.

Protection is Priceless –3,254
Mccain is old- 2,349
Omnomnom – 2,299
Race for the O – 1,301
It’s lookin like Christmas - 717

Total Amount: 8619 hits!!!
I really feel that this is a huge accomplishment. Eleven weeks ago I wasn’t known by anybody and now roughly 8600 people have a thought and memory as to who I am. An important factor in all of this is to realize where the people seem to be going. Protection is priceless seems to have gotten the most hits and I think this is due to the fact that it can be applied to a broader audience. When you focus your topics to things like Oreos or politics you only have a small group of people you target your audience towards. The McCain is Old video shoes this tremendously as the voting had ceased mid quarter, so did the votes. Nobody was interested in searching information on John McCain now that it was decided.

“Online behavior separates what a person may do with what a person is actually doing. The more we learn about where they go online, whether that is social networking sites, web tv sites, online games, or technical blogs, the easier it is to find and target them with the best offer at the right moment.” (Age of engage,Denise Shiffman, 135)

I know by watching where the hits fell to, that the John McCain video was dead after election. Being able to understand this can make a huge difference in valuable versus wasted effort.

Axe Idea

So for my idea for an Axe Commercial i've decided to use the axe scrubber. I'll get a manly man showering with the intense axe scrubber, he'll step out of the shower like another ordinary day. Afterwords a woman will sneak into the shower and steal the axe scrubber smelling it with the look of an intense lust for the man as she chases after him. Giggling and laughing ensues.

What do you think? Critique is loved!

Oreo Commercial Complete!!

So filming this video was a real big challenge for me. I had the location already mapped out and the ideal cars in mind. My friend Chaison was supposed to help by being one of the drivers. Well unfortunatly i found out that he's as flaky as a box of cereal.

Saturday (my initially planned day to shoot) he called me 5 mins before the time and said that he didn't have the car. So I had to push EVERYONE back a day because of his little mishap. So i texted him and asked that he really secured the car and everything.

Sunday came across. I decided to have everyone meet up at 2.00 PM so that way we had plenty of daylight to work with. I had everything all story boarded out and ready to go. I knew what i want and was psyched to film. 2.00 PM roles around and i found out that he needed me to drive him to go pick up the car! (Hence he didn't secure the car for himself.) Then after i picked him up and took him to get the car, he apparently got sick and threw up on the way there. Over the time it took for all this to happen we already lost an hour and sunset was falling fast.

So what i did is decided to play Camera tricks. You'll notice in the video that i never show the 2nd Driver. In reality whats actually happening is the girl is driving the car. I just edited it so she never moved from position. Awww the power of editing. =o)

Nearly 3000 Hits!!

Things are looking good for here! I recently tallied the hits I have for all of the videos I’ve made and realized how well I’ve been doing! I currently have 2,815 hits combined on all my videos. That’s nearly 3000 hits in just 6 weeks. This couldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for my viewers and because of that I’d like to thank you all for your support! I will continue to strive and deliver you entertaining footage!

Oreo Commercial

Lately I've been devising an idea for a new an Oreo commercial.

Two people with streamline vehicles rev their engines for the reward of a beautiful woman and Oreo Cookies. The men look to eachother and rev their engines in an all out competition. The vehicles struggle for the prize as they skid across the concrete. The winner gets out of the car and walks up to the lady as she poses knowing she’s such a valuable prize. The man grins as he walks past the lady and scoops up the Oreo cookies. He walks away as the women is unsettled at the loss of glory knowing she wasn’t the prize all along.

Tell me what you think!

Craigslist posting

Keep track with what people are saying at the following links:

McCain has out lived his father (Admiral John S. McCain, Jr. age 70), and his grandfather (John S. McCain, Sr. age 61) already. Whats to say that McCain isnt approaching any health issues. A lot can happen in four years let alone eight years. His grandfather died of a heart attack implying heart issues within the men of the family. I dont want to risk the President of the United States falling into cardiac arrest or other namely heart problems and falling ill. This is a video I found representing the issues presented here. Unfortunatly, Craigslist is obviously owned by the GOP and wont let me post a direct link. Unfortunately you'll have to copy and past but i ensure it's worth the extra effort.

Establishing My Core Uniqueness

It’s always been my belief that whenever I make a video I come up with a strong solid idea that’s quick and efficient to film yet compelling enough to spark a reaction out of people. If anything I would say that is my overall concern and struggle when beginning the filming process. None other than Hitchcock has thoroughly proved that pre-production is worth so much in the creative process. Prepare, prepare, prepare! By doing so you can bring your ideas to people and find out what they want. You’ll establish your core uniqueness and be at the front of the competition. This is supported by what Denise Shiffman says in her book “Age of Engage”.

“Although there are several attributes to a successful value proposition, nothing is as important as the core uniqueness, or what it is that makes your product or service stand out in the marketplace. “Me too” products have nothing to say for themselves, or their companies. You can make money riding on another company’s coattails (and innovations), but you can’t become great.” (Age of Engage, Denise Shiffman, 55)

You can see that by making a standoff product just to provide a quick fix in a market is not enough. Look at the Microsoft Zune. This was a reaction to the Apple’s IPod community. Rather than trying to grab the attention of the people who were dissatisfied they went forth and just made a copy “Me too” product that really offers nothing more than the FM radio. But let’s be honest, who wants that? I want my music, right here, right now, at my demand. Common Microsoft, Lets step up the game.

Advertising

In order to promote myself I’ve been really trying to look for videos and post comments about them to myself. I’ve also as previously mentioned before have been synchronizing my sites to their fullest potential. This is in order to get all three of my websites as much face time as possible. I want to be known from all facets and be prepared to give them my all no matter which site they give on. Challenging other videos to come see mine and other useful tricks makes for good attention for those internet zombie clickers.

McCain is old!

I just finished my latest video. It's a satirical piece on the elections. Everyone’s biggest critique on McCain is the fact that he’s so old. If he were to serve another eight year term he would be 80 years old and that’s the oldest a president has ever been in term. He’s out lived his parents and now running for president. I don’t want to wait for our president to get alzheimers personally. I hope everyone enjoys!

Protection is Priceless

After a small vacation I’m back in the game and working hard on providing you with some quality videos! I’ve recently been working on my representation of the “Priceless” MasterCard commercials. Some behind the scenes info: when I was coming up with ideas for this video I was originally planning on having a hot girl lying in a park where a stud would casually throw a Frisbee on to her butt. When the guy walks to her to make his suave move, she takes the Frisbee and hits him across his head. The tagline “watching your friend get rejected at the height of his ego: Priceless”. While I did like this idea a lot I had a hard time coming up with a attractive woman who would be willing me to shoot her butt. I mean lets be honest I’m calling up friends saying:

“Hey, this is Robert I was hoping I could grab a favor from you and could possibly use you in a film shoot… What would I need exactly? Well I’d need to shoot you laying down in the grass in some short shorts that shows of your assets. Oh, your busy? Alright then. I’ll talk to you later”

So you can see it posed a challenge for me. What ended up happening is I got my friend Kaipo Akana (who is my own personal stuntman of a friend) to help me and let himself get smacked with a kendo stick. Thank goodness he let me otherwise I’d be still brainstorming ideas to show you folks! Well here it is. My first video to show!

Later tonight I plan to come back and post a video about the elections! Stay tuned!

Speed and interaction

“Corporate leaders need to define a culture that encourages ideas and that ensures contrarian thoughts are aired, heard, and discussed. And most importantly, they need to instill in employees that speed matters” (Age of Engage, Denise Shiffman, 47)

Today corporate giants are needing to be pushed into an interactive market. We are constantly seeing new websites and events that are just literally trying to pull your wants and needs out of you. Sites such as www.Digg.com and events such as the CES, NAB, and LAFCPUG are trying to get you the consumer out there to view their products. They want to know what you think. On www.Starbucks.com the most important feature on this website is literally the “Got an idea?” tag. This opens up a whole community for people to get interested in. What would you like? Free wi-fi? Mango flavored coffee? By establishing a community you are able to find what your consumer wants in real-time. What does this mean for you as a producer of wanted values? Speed matters. Get out there. Understand their wants and become a part of the new market now!

A living organism?

“Nowhere has the effects of the live web had a greater impact than on advertising. The live web has rewritten the fundamentals of the advertising industry’s conventional media vehicles: television and news and magazine publishing. These industries have lost their cachet and are continually losing their ability to draw big audiences.” (Age of Engage, Denise Shiffman, 5)

This statement has more knowledge behind it than some may realize. This day and age is so focused on authentic media right here and now. Television, radio, and magazines are all static sources of media anymore that you have no control over. Today’s viewers want live, interacting, and engaging media that they can comment, socialize, and possibly even develop a community over. We want to meet likeminded viewers who possibly share the same likeness or even hatred towards the same objects in the media we see.

Today the web has allowed us to move our storage filing cabinet to an online, interactive source where we the consumer organize, tag, and make easier for information to be found. We not only try to get others to attract to our business, we make it easy and available for them to attract us. With every search entry you type into an engine you are constantly giving live feedback to the producers. This allows the seller to show products that the buyer wants rather than random products on sale.

What is Red Ogre Productions?

Red Ogre Productions is a newly emerging production company focusing on providing quality media entertainment. We provide hilarious comedy, intense action, and seductive scenes in order to capture the attention of our target audiences. Our goal is to specific demographic and delight our audiences with media to keep them entertained and engaged.
